- FC Premier 3
- Under 15s Lions 3
Our league game today saw us play away to FC Premier, the early stages of the game proved to be an even affair, with both sides squandering good chances. It was unfortunate for Lions when they fell behind to a goal midway through the 1st half, but Lions hit back in spectacular fashion when Callum scored his first goal for the club with a half volley from the edge of the box which flew into the roof of the net. Lions began to dominate, with the game being played mainly in FC Premiers half but Lions got undone when a swift counter attack saw FC Premier edge into the lead, making it 2-1. Half-time score FC Premier 2, Tipton Youth Lions 1.
Lions started to attack from the off and shots rained in on the Premier goal and it was hard to understand at this stage of the game why Lions were not level or ahead, but FC Premier looking equally as dangerous on the counter attack. Goal Keeper William looking very secure with some confident handling, but it was from a set piece that Lions managed to get level, Alex sneaking in at the back post and heading over the line. The game now finely poised and with Lions still attacking, got undone on the break yet again when the FC Premier midfielder hit an unstoppable shot into the top left hand corner. As always Tipton Youth Lions dug deep and showed great character with Michal, who was a constant menace to the Premier defence managed to bungle the ball over the line to bring the game level yet again. The game started to ebb and flow and Premier unlucky when a shot from 20 yards hit the underside of the bar only to bounce back into William’s hands. Unbelievably, Liam hit an equally as good shot which came off the underside of Premiers goal, bouncing out to Jake who was just unable to dig it out from under his feet and could only put the rebound into the keepers reach. The last 10 minutes saw Lions pin back Premier and only some desperate as well as good defending from their defence keeping Lions at bay. The final score, FC Premier 3, Tipton Youth Lions 3. Well played both teams!
