AWAY WIN FOR LIONS

25 . 09 . 2016
  • Lane Head Warriors 1
  • vs
  • Under 15s Lions 3

Back to league action this week with a game versus Lane Head Warriors.  Lions starting the game having majority of the possession but unable to create any real clear cut chances.  The closest Lions came was with a snap shot from Bradley from just outside the box, which flew narrowly wide.  Lions did manage to undo Lane Heads defence when Michal was able to get ahead of the Lane Head defender to stroke the ball into the back of the net.  With Lane Head offering little in attack, Lions looked comfortable going into the half time break one nil ahead.  Half-time score Lane Head Warriors 0, Tipton Youth Lions 1.

Lane Head came out in the second half determined to get themselves back in the game pushing Lions back, and at times Lions finding it difficult to get out their own half.  Lane Head got their reward with an equaliser from a shot just inside the box. With Lane Head lifted and well and truly back in the game it was up to Lions to dig deep and show great character.  Although, having plenty of possession Lane Head never really troubled the Lions goal and staying strong at the back, in particular, Danny R and Luke.  Lions managed to get themselves in front with a break-away goal and a great finish from Alex.  Quickly after, Jay hit a looping ball 20 yards out into the roof of the net and Lions players celebrated jubilantly.  Lions then took control and saw the game out in a positive and professional manner.  The final score, Lane Head Warriors 1, Tipton Youth Lions 3.  Well played both teams!
